Why does my breathing NOT speed up when I exercise?

TotallyNotIzzy101 profile image

I am completely healthy physically, have no medical problems of any kind, and I eat healthy. I am also mentally healthy with no anxiety or depression, along with low stress levels. But when I exercise or do any task in which your heart rate increases (and mine increases as it should) and your breathing should increase as to deliver an appropriate amount of oxygen to your body, my breathing doesn't speed up. It stays the same as If I was sitting down reading a book. No matter what I'm doing, I could be walking, running, or riding my bike. Just today I was in a bike ride with my family and I felt just a little out of breath. We had to stop because my brothers bike peddle was coming unscrewed and when we start moving again (almost home) I stood up to get on my bike and I felt extremely dizzy and a when into a panic attack because I wasn't getting enough air. I almost passed out. I don't know what to do. I can't find anything about anyone else experiencing this. 🙁

Hi TotallyNotlzzy101, you sound like you are in good health and shape.I think what might have happened on that bike ride is when you stopped

to fix your brother's bike pedal you were in a crotched position for a while

which made your b/p drop a little (esp after have been riding your bike) so

when you stood up, it took a while for the b/p to rise to catch up with your

actions. Of course, when we have anxiety, it's very easy for us to focus in

on a physical feeling and feel as if we might not make it.

I am not a doctor and would suggest telling your doctor about this incident

next time you see him. I think if you've been okay these last 2 days, it might

have just been a one time incident. Wish you well :) xx
