Citalopram to Mirtazapine

Hi all,

I am new to this although been on meds for anxiety/ depression for 20 plus years. I came off my usual meds after a few years as wanted to try one with less side effects so I tried citalopram which didn't seem to work but then after about a month it seemed to start working but by then I had already asked to try Mirtazapine as pharmacist said it was a newer med with hardly any side effects. I started on 15mg and went to 30mg after a month. I've been on this dose for 3 weeks but I still feel bad. Has anyone else had experience with Mirtazapine? I'm considering switching back to citalopram as anxiety and tight chest, together with feeling pretty low is not improving.

Thanks

Why feel bad when you can feel better. Switch back. OR consider this one.... Fluvoxamine in the treatment of anxiety disorders. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Hi kaye77

I'm in the process of switching back but got to start off on low dose as I'm on Mirtazapine I'm told, then increase. Just hope it doesn't take too long to work.

Thanks for your support.

Hi,DANROU, I'm on mirtrazapine, and I take it at night time, I'm on 45mg,and I've been on it for nearly 10 years, the doses have increased over the years, that's because I requested this, because like with any medication, you can become immune, or even sometimes your health can get worse, however, I have absolutely no issues with this medication ,but it can cover a multitude of medical conditions to ease many ailments, and mine is mainly used to help aid in sleep, because i was kept awake with neuropathic pains, and perhaps i had undiagnosed depression with the constant symptoms . yes,at the beginning it may make you feel woozy, or light headed, but I think these tablets are taken at night time, so try not to start doing a crossword lol🤣, many tablets can have side effects, but once you have adjusted, hopefully you'll be able to feel better, and maybe these are the right ones for you, best of luck, thanks.
