Sertraline Help

Have not posted for sometime as I was doing well. I have been on 125 sertraline since February last year a couple of times I was tempted to go up but decided to stick it out. I as doing really well virtually back to normal with a few blips here and there but last Monday started to go down hill I have had constant headaches for months but liveable but Monday I started getting hot flushes and upset stomach as well. Then 4 nights ago I started to wake up after two hours sleep with terrible burning sensation in my shoulders and arms with stomach cramps and headaches and not being to to go back to sleep. Today I have been awake since 2.30 am with the burning sensations headaches palpitations as well as awful anxiety and panic. I can not relax and don’t know what to do with my self. I am very tempted to go to A & E as I can’t stand any more and the pressure in my head is getting worse. HELP PLEASE

Sorry to hear this. Can you explain it to your doctor. They might try you on a different type. Have you tried c b therapy. I’m on 100mg a day but it doesn’t affect me like you but I do get hot at night

Very sorry to hear how you are suffering. The thing about Sertraline is that while it can help manage anxiety, it is not powerful enough to deal with serious flare-ups and large scale panic attacks, as I know myself. I would get your stomach problems and hot flashes checked for other causes also, but I know anxiety can cause big physical symptoms at times. When I have a bad time with panic attacks, I take diazepan to get me through for a few days, and try do as much in the way of walking and breathing techniques as I can until it becomes manageable again. Good luck with whatever you do; anxiety can be crippling I know.

I can understand your worries. But have you checked the side effects in the patient leaflet that comes with your pills. 9 times out of 10 I check them, the one time I didn’t, I regretted not looking sooner.
