Hi, I’ve been taking mirtazapine for 10 weeks but it wasn’t working for my anxiety. I’ve tapered off over 4 weeks (included in the 10) and for first few days after stopping completely I felt great. My anxiety is gone but now I have insomnia and uncontrollable crying. Has anyone else experienced this? I refuse to go back on and taper slowly as I never want to have to come off it again. Some days are good and others are not at all but the feelings never last all day, by evening they have passed but the insomnia is crippling. Has anyone got any advice?

Mirtazapine is a very potent drug. After 10 weeks your body is dependant on it and stopping cold turkey will give you withdrawal symptoms you describe. Only way to stabilise is reinstate at your original dose and taper no more than 10% of your previous dose per month an go slower if you have symptoms. I am sorry that's not what you want to hear but it is the only way. Check the forums they will tell you the same thing
