Hi all. I just started on 50mg sertraline today. As the day has gone on, I’ve been feeling quite spacey and a bit nauseous. Is it normal for the tablets to have an effect this quickly?
I was on amitriptyline at university but have been off any kind of medication for about 4-5yrs now.

I'm not a doctor but have been using Sertraline and know of several others who have also for many years in either 50mg or 100mg doses. I'd be very surprised if the meds have had any such impact that quickly as one of the frustrations with SSRI'S is typically the time they take to efficacy often 3/4 weeks.
In my opinion and as I recall it's more likely being 'anxious' simply taking such a drug for the first time probably has caused that feeling (which is horrible) impacting the 'taking' itself.
I can say it's been a good drug for me over some time and from what I know one with least side effects.
Good luck with the course and try if at all possible to view it as part of the cure rather than the problem.
Don't hesitate to post again if you feel concerned. Skorpious
