Are irrational beliefs permanent?

I'm in a rut because I've developed an irrational belief which is to do with something I love. I can't go into detail on what it is because I wanna keep it private. But no matter how much it is proven wrong, my mind and anxiety still forces me to believe it. Its hurting me! ;( How can I overcome this? Thanks

Sounds like denial? If there is evidence or known facts that prove or disprove something, and you choose to not accept or believe, then you can do this forever till you accept what is real, the truth, etc.
