I stopped feeling my heart beating

Hello everyone,

everything in my life is okay, I hadn’t anxiety for a long time. Since long time I always able to feel my heart beating, hard to explain it. I know, my heart should be normal, as I run sometimes, didn’t have any problem at all.

One day last week I woke up and something was different: I had zero feeling of my heart rate. I kinda felt terrible. Than I became very frustrated, I thought something is wrong. Because my heart rate went 2-5 beats down, when I relax or sleep. (Average 60 beats now, but still in good range)

after than I was hyperventilating and went to ER. They observed me for 5 hours, everything was okay. There I was very afraid, but I could feel my heart rate due to racing pulse. They just try to give me a sedative but I refused it.

I also had heart palpitations after I eat completely full. Yesterday I tried it, I had no palpitation or feeling.

I can check my pulse on chest or neck, looks okay. I also have Apple Watch 5 and take many ECGs.

With this “no feeling heart rate” feeling I also get emotional dumbness. I am able to chat with people or make jokes or laugh. I have no feeling at all. I take no medicine.

Last night I also freaked out, because people don’t get me, when I tell them my problem. I am 26 years old male. I am actually using Ritalin for ADHD for long time but I also stopped taking Ritalin for a week, I am really afraid it take it now, if anything happens.

Any ideas what happened. Please feel free to write me. I really need it right now.

Hi Raffaels, it's quite okay to not feel your heart beat. Actually that's how it

should be. I totally understand how you feel and how you are thinking.

Anytime something changes in our lives, we think something is wrong. Even if

it changes for the good. That's just the way the anxious mind behaves.

Try not focusing on the heart so much by putting aside the Apple watch for

a while.

Make sure your doctor knows that you stopped your Ritalin...he will advise you

as how to get back on it if that what he prefers. Take care... :) xx

I just played bowling and my heart rate was rising or decreasing healthy enough. I am not afraid any more, I going back to Ritalin on Monday. All good.

You are right, when something changes, even in a good way, can go easily anxious. Even I didn’t have any problem last 2 years, last weak not feeling my heart rate caused problems.

You can beat panic disorder but it is hard to change how you think. I welcome now any fear related to my heart and panic.
