Falling out of Love

Can anti-depressants make you fall out of love with your significant other? Ever since I started Lexapro in 2018 my sex drive and lack of showing love and emotion has diminished. I don’t want to blame the medicine but I don’t understand why. Can someone please help.

Every time I take Citalopram I lose my sex drive & feel a bit switched off emotionally. I think these effects are quite common unfortunately. Perhaps other people have a better experience on other medication.

I took lexapro for a while and had the exact same side effects!! When I told my doctor, he said that it was a common side effect.

Thank you for this advise, I feel I am between shield and a sword because I my self want to feel better but at the same time, I feel like I am pushing away partner. I hope I can find a balance.

I felt the same way! Lexapro made me feel a little better but I ended up pushing my partner away to the point where it just wasn’t worth taking anymore. I was becoming more unhappy and having new problems lol.

But I think it’s great that you’re aware of it! Hopefully that awareness will make it easier if you come to the point where you have to decide whether you should continue or stop taking it
