I’ve been extremely paranoid about a DVT and PE. Move over heart attack because now we’re here!

my symptoms are yet again real: pain when I dorsiflex my foot, twitches throughout my left leg, tender spots, but no redness, no heat, no swelling to the naked eye. sometimes it hurts when I walk and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve been terrified to massage it, to take a bath, to do anything that could dislodge it even though I already feel like a 20 ton weight is sitting on my chest with dizziness this week so really the PE is already here!

the catch? I received a sonographic, color flow, compression Doppler 5 days into this whole mess and the results? completely clear. evaluated by a man who has 12 years experience and extensive medical history. it was even a Doppler of my entire leg and not just the thigh.

yet I’ve been on a google SPIRAL. I can’t stop reading horror stories about girls my age who had negative ultrasounds, ended up with PE’s and died. one girl in particular had a negative ultrasound, but still had a small bit of pain three weeks later but was cleared and then ended up collapsing of a cardiac/pulmonary arrest with a FOOT LONG clot in her lungs four months later.

I’m not on birth control, I stay hydrated, I took a 6 hour drive to NJ a few weeks ago but we got out in the middle and walked around both there and back, I haven’t had surgeries, I’m not abnormally sedentary but yet I know these things happen just /because/. I’m sick of myself and I’m sick of this. Anyone else feel this way?

Sorry to hear your feeling like this, I’m feeling unwell at the moment, so paranoid.

Dvt used to be a major one for me, I went to the doctors over it and hospital numerous times, drove myself crazy. On one occasion at the hospital I had a leg scan, ct scan, blood tests, got the all clear, I’d literally just got in the taxi to come home and I said to my ex omg no it’s happening again the pains there and it’s getting worse and id just been checked out.

The first thing I would say is definitely don’t google, I no it’s hard I was on it all the time, still do occasionally now but I try my hardest not to as it just fuels anxiety.

did you have tender spots and everything too? and did you read the horror stories? specifically on stop the clot.org lol and how did you overcome this?

Yes I have sensitive spots in a lot of places, and pains. I went to cbt therapy, been quite a few times, it’s not completely made my anxiety go away but it has improved, you wouldn’t think so right this minute I’m sat in bed proper sulking anxiety through the roof, this forum helped me a lot to, sometimes it’s nice just to take your mind off things and chat. Try to take your mind off it, relax, so something that you enjoy doing maybe

I get mine in my left leg dominantly right now like in my thigh and the back of knee and also ankle and thigh and everything but have been afraid to massage and “dislodge” the clot lol it’s so absurd... and yeah agreed!
