Hello I am new here. I have suffered with anxiety most of my life but with meds and exercise have self managed it. I went on mirtrazapine last year and at first it worked but after increasing to 45 mg a couple of months ago felt it was no longer working so doc suggested I change to citroplam. So eight days now off Mirtrazapine and been the worst eight days of my life! Can’t sleep, hardly able to eat, mind racing, Vertigo, anxiety attacks, crying etc. I started 10mg citroplam ten days ago and upped to 20 mg 3days ago but feel like I am going mad. Does anybody else have any similar experiences and can offer me any hope?? Thank you x

Anxiety and mirtrazapine withdrawal
Oh gosh, no wonder you feel like you're going mad. You started taking the Citalopram 10 days ago and you only stopped taking the Mirtazapine 8 days ago..
You Were on quite a high dose of Mirtazapine, so you should have come down off them slowly before you started to take the Citalopram.
Your Doctor should have explained how to go about it.
You're Not going mad.
It's just the bloody medication you're on.
Why don't you ring up your G.P and ask for a call back. They can give you some Advice.
I hope that you will feel better soon.
I know it's horrible changing over from one medication to another.
You don't know where the hell you are with it all.
Take Care and LOOK AFTER YOURSELF

You should have come off mirtazapine much more gradually
Hi the doc told me to do drop to 30mg for a week then 15mg for week then stop but as she didn’t prescribe any 30 I just cut my 45 mg in half for a week which she said was ok then reduced to 15 mg cor the week. I wish I had done a bit of research beforehand as I can clearly see from others that it should be a very gradual reduction. I am off work now as I can barely function - does anybody have any personal experiences of mirtrazapine withdrawal and how they coped. Thank you
I would go back on mirtazapine and withdraw properly if I was you
you may need to tell your GP you want to go back on mirtazapine if they don't comply with your wishes to have a script for mirtazapine in order to withdraw slowly
GPs don't usually get it that withdrawal can cause big problems for some people
There are mirtazapine withdrawal forums on the Internet you may find then useful, just type in mirtazapine withdrawal forum
I'm having withdrawal from Zoloft as I'm switching to Prozac. My doctor is prescribing me a low dose of clonazepam with it to help with the withdrawal. Haven't started yet but I feel your pain- it's terrible!
