Detoxing of benzodiazepine's

Doctors wont give out prescribed detox service. I have been to drug and alcohol service in my city. Can anybody answer as to why they will not do a prescribed detox. As i have tried to detox myself non-assisted medically and this failed due to i believe the impurity of medication i was receiving. I had no control over my quality of life so much that it got so bad i started to get paranoid delusional thoughts and basically house bound throughout the time i tried this.

MY BIG QUESTION IS

Can anybody out there on this forum give me some really good positive advice on how to deal with this situation.

Many Thanks

I’m currently 4 days out from my last dose of Ativan. In all honesty, my doctors don’t seem to take the withdrawal symptoms very seriously. I was only on it for around 6 months at 1.5 mg a day, but I’m experiencing increased anxiety, dizziness and tingling in my face. I tapered very slow, cutting .125 each week over a couple months. Even with that slow of a taper I appear to be experiencing some withdrawals. I’ve been meditating, doing acupuncture, counseling twice a week and yoga. Also trying to get some walking in every day.

From what I’ve read, it can take a couple weeks to feel better after the last dose. I know it’s scary and overwhelming, but if you can power through, the end result will be worth it!

What were your withdrawal symptoms?

well their were many side effects i got such as trembling in bed, horrendous dreams, muscle aches, extreme anxiety, excessive sweat, at some points i did feel like it would not come to an end and i was not in control but with the help of an antidepressant called mirtazapine that helped me sleep better and extreme persistence not to give in helped a lot im not going to lie it made me gain weight and im having trouble coming of that now. but it did help me get through a lot of the withdrawals and that was with diazepam. now im on alprazolam and i believe that is very difficult to get of which is why i am so terrified of trying again but i believe with the right help and strategy in place we can over come this problems in life :)

Any more questions please feel free to ask me and god bless you i know how you feel i have been their and now i am back in same situation due to extreme difficulty my best advice is once your clean do not go back on them i promise you will not regret it :) much peace and love

Best wishes Callum
