I've been off my medication for 2 years now and I'm terrified to find a new doctor to get put back on medication... My anxiety is out of control I can't drive anywhere but work otherwise I freak out. My depression comes and goes now. I can't go back to my old doctor because I moved and I can't drive that far to see her it's too much... Anyone have any advice to get me to a new doctor or how to find a good one?

paigexnicole, the thing in finding a new doctor or even therapist requires looking for someone who doesn't have a year wait list. It use to mean that they were the better ones with a good practice, but therapy is all about how you connect with the doctor.
Since traveling far is not an option for you, I would start with private practices near you as well as teaching hospitals where you might get in sooner by seeing a resident. You won't really know what works for you best until you've had a couple sessions. It's one of the reasons that I never recommend doctors. We each have our own characteristics, what works for me may not for you. I wish you well. I know it's not easy. xx
AND, Trust your instincts about the doctor. IF you get into an appointment with any new doctor, YOUR ARE IN CONTROL of the appointment. THEY WORK FOR YOU. (ok shouted just a little bit)
I totally and completely understand what you are talking about and I swear this happened to me when I moved here.
The doctors were just like penny candy. A dime a dozen and not impressive one bit. BAD listeners, no insight.
SO paige, trust yourself to know when you get in with a good doc.
You have authority over your feelings, attitudes and beliefs. You deserve to find a doctor whom you can develop trusting relationship with.
I asked the neighbors, who they went to, the man at the local gas station, the lady at the grocery.
I had to find somebody right in my neighborhood too.
You will find what you need.
