Hi everyone, I have began treatment for anxiety, including meds (Lexapro 10mg) and therapy. One thing I have learned from therapy that I wanted to share is the 90 second rule. My problem is I'll have a pain in my chest or head and my mind will start racing, thinking up worse possible cases and this starts my anxiety attacks. The 90 second rule allows me to have this pain and wait 90 seconds without obsessing over it and it usually subsides. If I feel the physical symptoms of anxiety occurring, I begin counting to 90 and don't dwell on the symptoms.. And usually I will not have an attack. I hope this may help others. The trick is to teach your brain not to react to those negative feelings of anxiety. It's hard but once you can, anxiety becomes much easier to manage.
