I do...ohhh I do know this very well. It used to frighten the life out of me. It was every single night, i had every heart test you can image so I knew at the back of my mind it probably was my anxiety making it worse...doesnt help when you are in it tho!. If you would feel better seeing a doctor to put your mind at rest that there isnt anything wrong then i would honestly do so. The racing I feel is the worst. I used to be able to hear my racing heartbeat when I put my head on the pillow...no music or sound would get rid of it so I was consciously aware of it. The key here is to calm yourself down(I know, I know it seems like an impossibility doesn't it). Sit up and go get a cold glass of water...sit back down on the side of the bed and sip. Then take a deep breath in and thro your nose slowly count to 4 and then on 5 out thro your mouth...keep repeating this and you should hopefully start to calm down. It worked for me anyway and touch wood I've not had this now for quite some time. Thinking about it constantly often exasperates it so write down on a scale of 1 to 5 what your anxiety level is and what you were doing before bed...i know that sounds silly but you could see a pattern or trigger prior to going to bed. I usually wasn't doing anything and it started so my mind then would think "omg this is it....im dying". Once I found a breathing exercise that worked for me...they started to reduce. I wish you well. Janie

Been there and never want to visit that again. Infact I had it the other night and I talked myself through it. I focused on my breathing and said to myself inhale, exhale with each breath which shifted my focus and I calmed down which curbed all my symptoms so I could get to sleep. Give it a go xx

Oh man, have I! This happened to me almost every night, for a while, about a year ago. I was able to get past the breathing part because I knew my body would keep breathing, somehow, but my heart would race (and skip) so badly I was sure I was dying every time! I had nausea too & my BP would go very high. These episodes made me feel desperate for help, more scared than I thought I could feel. They were horrifying. You are supposed to not fear the attacks, but mine were so intense, no matter how hard I tried not to fear them, I’d end up thinking I was going to die. Finally, and without meds, my nervous system gradually calmed down and they went away.

Look into Hyperventilation Syndrome. I now do breathing exercises and it helps a lot. I now breathe less.

Yes, I try to be mindful of my breathing every day. Controlled breathing helps and it’s really all I can do during the attacks. Other than that, I just have to try to accept it, not fear it, & wait it out, usually 15-20mins. I breathe in through my nose, hold it, then exhale through my mouth and repeat, & that keeps me from hyperventilating while I go through the hellish experience.
