I have this sensation quite often. I've been prescribed antacids but in general, it seems to just be in my head. I am currently on a gluten free diet however, which was suggested to me by my therapist. I have noticed the sensation lessening. Whether the two are related, I'm unsure but I am trying anything to take back my life. :)

I don't know what causes it but I think for me it's muscle tension and I was told a really effective exercise...look to the ceiling with your mouth shut and shoulders down and back, you should feel the stretch in the front of your neck you have to hold it for 10 seconds then tilt head to left hold for 10 and then tilt right and hold for 10. I do this throughout the day and it really helped reduce the lump in my throat feeling.
