What are people's thought on hypnotherapy for panic disorder/anxiety symptoms?

Hi Princessjessica, I did have Hypnotherapy and it was a great experience. It doesn't work for everyone but for the ones who are open to the suggestions of the hypnotherapist, the results can be amazing. The peace and the calm you feel can't even be described. You are coherent of everything she is saying. Although she does not have control over you physically. You could literally get up and leave at any time, but you don't want to. You are taken to a place that relaxes both the mind and the body from racing thoughts to reducing muscle tension. Sometimes suggestions are made that you carry with you. Mine was everytime I hear or see the numbers from 10 to 1, my body posture changes. My shoulders immediately go down to a more relaxed position. As each number changes, I automatically deep breathe until the last count where I feel a total relief of my stress.

The numbers could be something I hear on tv, being in an elevator and going down and watching the floor numbers descend to watching the last 10 seconds of my microwave. I automatically go into "relax mode".. So I can highly recommend it and hope you are lucky enough for it to work for you. Good Luck Let us know the results. xx

I am very open minded I do believe some people have the ability but I am a little sceptical also. Thanks for sharing your story with me really happy it helped you that's amazing! I'm going to look into it and try and find the right one for me

Good Luck Princessjessica, I was fortunate in that my therapist was the one who recommended the hypnotherapist who did happen to work at the hospital as well Aazz is absolutely correct in not picking someone out of the air :) Half the benefit you will get is knowing that you are safe and in good hands. xx.

I love Hypnosis. Agora1 pretty much said it all in her post, you are always in control but it is so relaxing. I sometimes have to have several sessions for the suggestion sticks, but I love it and highly recommend a good therapist!

I think you need to find a clinical hypnotherapist ones that work in hospitals not just someone you find on google, I reckon this will be my next step. Good luck 😉

Is that something I can ask my doctor for? I didn't think there was clinical hypnotherapists

Yes I would think so but I am in Australia it depends where you are from?

This is one of my biggest fears since I watched get out.. i would NEVER want someone in my head.. nope not for me im very open minded but this just FREAKS me out.. having someone mentally put things into my head sounds good but also so bad.. yeah your all gonna say thats why you find someone you can feel safe and relaxed with.. haha even GUIDED meditations FREAK ME OUT but also relaxes me so much.. its odd im relaxed and then worried at the same time until i just say SCREW IT what will be WILL BE but i want to try it but never can get past the fear of having someone in ya head and that movie GET OUT did not help the fear LOL much luck please tell us what you feel in the moment and aftwr the moment also Agora1 are you saying the countdown still happens? Like if your randomly shopping at those numbers hit you become relaxed? Does it ever ware off ?

kevoreally, Yes it does still happen whenever I hear 10,9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 A relaxed and calm comes over me. You have to know that the suggestions made are only kept if the patient got something out of it. You certainly wouldn't keep anything that made you feel uncomfortable. Also kev, you need to know that I went through many years of different kinds of therapy that also used the reversed counting down method from 10 to 1. So you can say I was predisposed to this working for me :)

We all eventually find what works best for them. I'm still into meditation/imagery and deep breathing and will never stop using that.

You have so much knowledge you Have a ton of experience and are very intelligent and im glad you are apart of this site I do not know you personally but you are definitely gonna be my goto for when im tweaking if my fiance doesnt answer 😊 And you could do the same for me
