Hypnotherapy

I've read good things that hypnotherapy can help with alleviating anxiety symptoms and can help with coping. Anyone ever tried this and has it worked for you? I'm so desperate to try anything at this point. I feel like I'm going to lose it sometimes.

There are some self hypnosis videos on youtube. They've helped me more or less. It's relaxing meditation at the very least

Jpsurf, I'm into the self hypnosis meditation. Anyone

in particular that you listen to?

I like to switch it up, but I think his name is Michael Sealey? That's the guy I most often go to. What about you?

Same Michael Sealey, Jason Stephenson, The Honest Guys and Quiet Mind Café.

Those are my "Go To". :)

I'll check them out! Also, sometimes I just put on a moving movie soundtrack and do deep breathing. Usually it's the Lord of The Rings haha

Hi Robb1, Self Hypnosis started when I had gotten desperate as to finding something

in addition to medication that might work. I found a Hypnotherapist who taught me the

basics of using hypnotizing for deep relaxation and calming. It was out of pocket and

quite expensive so I only had about 5 sessions. Enough so that I could go on YouTube

and listen for free. I think you should give it a try. If it works for you, it's a way to escape

from the fear of anxiety and stress. Not everyone can get into that deep trance like feeling, it takes practice. Good Luck in finding something that works for you. :)

I was wondering if this would work too, to help me with my anxiety but I also have Tourette’s and have heard it’s suppose to be good for that too

I know of friends who have successfully had hypnotherapy, and I also know of two people who had bad experiences! One had been given false memories that resulted in a court case! The other person was my Sister, she was also given false memories thankfully it was the same therapist who had been to court just months before! The memories she claimed to have were proven to be factless, after investigation, I worry that people may have admitted crimes or have been imprisoned because of this kind of thing! It doesn't matter how well respected a therapist is something may cause them to give a person a false memory perhaps they have transferred one of their own memories or it's just mischief?

Personally I would not like to put myself at risk!

Didn't work for me. Everyone is different though, so I wouldn't say it doesn't work.

I have seen 2 hypnotherapists over the years and didn’t work at all. I agree the free Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness on Utube are much better. Don’t waste your money x

It’s not quite hypnosis, but I found the Calm app really helpful. You can download it for free and then pay a one off fee to access everything, but I found the free stuff to be really useful. I try to practice this once a day as it really helps me.

I have been seeing a hypnotherapist for the last few weeks, I think it’s working, some weeks it works better than others!!but time will tell if it’s all worth it. I have 3 more session left.

Can you keep me posted? I know like with anything new you try things take time until you know if it's working. I'm really curious. So what made you decide to go down this route?

Yes of course! Happy to share anything worthwhile.

I decided to try hypnotherapy as I’m just sick of needing to go to the doctors when my symptoms occur, so I want to try and tap into the source of where my anxiety coming from to work out how to handle the symptoms on my own when they arise. We are working on CBT methods too. If I can stop my symptoms myself I’ll be a happy person indeed!
