Easy bruising

I have been noticing that on my legs, I have been getting a lot of bruises. Usually on the shin, and the side of my knee. They don't hurt too much. They're most light red/ purple, and some blue/purple. I'm really scared that I have leukemia, easy bruising is a sign of that. I haven't had a chemical blood test since December and I can't remember how I got the bruises and I can't get in to see the doctor for over a month:( does anyone know any thing about leukemia or symptoms of it??

Bruising easily is a clear sign of iron deficiency. Most of the time slow growing leukemia doesn't have symptoms. Fast growing leukemia is shortness of breath, fatigue, weight loss, frequent infections, etc.

You could just have iron deficiency.... easy bruising is a sign of that and anemia....

If you want to know the symptoms, why don't you try the NHS website. The other reason I'm told for bruising for no reason is because your blood isn't clotting properly, was told this last week by a nurse. So please don't panic about it till you've had a blood test. You could also look up about bruising on the NHS Web site.

Iron and vitamin C. Vitamin C is harmless to take and will assist with iron absorption if that's an issue. I wouldn't supplement with iron without finding out if you're deficient first.

From what I gather the bruises from Leukemia can look severe but are painless. They tend to appear in strange places such as on your back or your hands, especially between your fingers.

Everyday bruises on your legs are easy to pick up without noticing at the time and generally take longer to heal than bruises elsewhere.

Try not to worry about it. If it carries on for any length of time then see your gp just to put your mind at rest.

Relax it's probably nothing maybe you just have been bumping into things. Go to the 24 care in your neighborhood to ease your mind

I have no knowledge of your gender or age (it does matter) but random bruising can also be an indicator or marker for diabetes. You would need to have your blood tested. I shall now be inundated with messages reminding me of weight loss (or gain), extreme thirst, frequent urination all of which I am acutely aware being an insulin dependent diabetic for the past fourteen years. I wish you well.
