Hi Sandy1710, I don't know how things work in the United Kingdom but I'm sure you will get a lot of responses from others who do. What did the doctor say about the chest pains? I'm sure she must have listened to your heart. Was that okay?? I'm sorry I can only imagine how it's brought your anxiety up even further.

Blood pressure pulse and listened to my heart was all perfect. Just referred to the report from cardiology from 6 months ago saying all is well

Hi I'm sure you can get ECG on NHS. But if they are saying all is perfect then maybe it's because you don't need one? X

I had an ECG at the hospital last weekend. NHS UK. Not sure why you were given that information, strange.

Hope you are doing OK!

I've had three ECG tests on the NHS my doctor booked me straight in for them to rule everything out.. I had two at the hospital on separate occasions and had one with wearing a monitor for 24hrs. Not sure why you would be told that as it's untrue I'd ask to see a different doctor and see what they say. In the end all my problems were put down to anxiety and since being medicated for the most part they are much less severe.

Hi , they will only refer you to have an ecg if they think something may be wrong. You have been cleared heartwise.Your doctor is just trying to help you .it only increases your worry and then you want another soothing test done then another.... ,do you understand ? the testing will not stop your anxiety, it will increase it .Your chest pains are down to your anxiety , hard to beleive but this is a common anxiety symptom. YOur doctor knows this ,and she knows that your heart has been clerared as fit by a Cardiologist no less . Hope you feel better soon.,

I'm just at a loss now. Pains are still there today. Anxiety is going mad too because I'm thinking what if it is serious. Weird limp pain down my sides and then I can feel heart beat through side like near armpit. Im hubby too so how can that be

Hi Sandy1710, I would try to rethink as well as refocus your thoughts on the chest pain coming from your heart. The Pro is that you have been cleared by your cardiologist as well as your doctor. It sounds like the chest pain may be coming more from your chest wall muscles. It is common when we hold ourselves so tightly in one position because of our fears. If we never let go and relax those muscles then they tend to impinge on the nerves as well as connective tissue. And yes, it can cause disturbing and painful chest pain which has nothing to do with your heart. The feeling you have of what you think is your heart beat near your armpit can be nothing more than the oversensitized nervous system pulsating.

One negative thought leads to another until your body can't help but respond in fear. Telling you right now that it is anxiety is not going to take away the pain unless you truly believe it and accept it.

If I were you, I would seek out one more opinion and that is from either a Rheumatologist or a Sports Medicine doctor. They deal more in chronic muscle pain. Anxiety may still be at the base of the pain but possibly by relieving the pain, your anxiety will go down as well. Breathe deeply Sandy and feel some calm :)

You can 100% get a E.C.G on the nhs don't know what your doctor is going on about. If you are still getting chest pains go the A&E you will get 1 straight away I did I also got an x-ray and bloods done called a trop-t test to check your heart.

I went again today. Spoke to another doc. Said the same thing. Listened to it and said all is fine again. Throughout this whole struggle my mum has been my crutch and she is on holiday and I've been home alone, lots of time to think. Perhaps that hasn't helped.

Try and be reassured that the doctors are saying that you are fine. The symptoms you are experiencing are your anxiety. Have you tried some counselling/cbt? Would also recommend a good book - Anxiety Panicking about Panic by Justin Fletcher all about dealing with anxiety symptoms. Good luck x

Yeah I know I should look at it as positive but you know what it's like it's very hard. Just wish chest pains weren't part of it, wish it was knee pains or something that's not too scary! Wishful thinking ay! I've started CBT and also got some tablets for reflux now coz I think that's causing me a lot of trouble. I'm also thinking about biting the bullet and going to Harley street for counselling as I'm not spending my wages going out so maybe I can treat myself to this!

Counselling would be a really positive step and would really help you. Go for it x
