Breathing techniques/helpful tips?

Recently I went to the doctors about chest pain. She said it was likely caused by me taking shallow breaths from having anxiety.

Since then I have been paranoid about my breathing and I almost seem to "notice" it too much and create problems that probably aren't there.

Does anyone have any helpful tips, or breathing exercises/techniques that work for them? I need this more so at night when trying to fall asleep!

Thanks guys!

Hi have a look on YouTube for breathing techniques and meditation. Focusing on my breathing has helped my anxiety a lot. For anxiety/panic attacks try holding your breath as long as possible and long breath out do this a few times. Anxiety symptoms can be caused by too much oxygen caused by breathing wrong. For day to day breathing try and spend some time counting your breaths such as 3 in, 3 hold, 3 out or whatever combination works for you. Once or twice a day focus on deep belly breathing on breathing in pull your tummy in and raise your chest on breathing out push chest down and belly out slow and controlled. My meditation teacher says the outward breath is linked to your parasympathetic system which helps aids relaxation so I regularly make sure my outward breath is longer than the inward of that makes sense. Sorry lots of info try one at a time! Xx
