I am light headed and have a ringing in ears my head feels weird. I get a burning sensation all over and this all sets me off into a panic.

I have been on my increase for almost ten days and I keep telling myself that if anything medicine related we're going to happen it would have already done it.

The head sensation has subsided as I am typing this. The ringing in ears is irritating but that doesn't scare me. I am trying to see if it gets worse when I panic. I didn't have that until I increased my Escitolapram.

This is awful but it is helping me to post here. I can feel the panic letting up.

How do you learn to accept panic attacks? I just want to be able to enjoy time by myself, not be terrified.

Just need to talk so I can settle back down. So I will just keep typing here to myself. I went outside with my husband and got dizzy. That is what set this chain of reactions happening. My legs felt stiff as I was walking out there, which is most likely tension from being so anxious.

Try and take a few deep breaths, focus your thoughts on something else. Try not to focus on your symptoms that you are having but focus your thoughts on something else.

Thank you. Right now I am focusing on typing here and it's helping. I can feel everything going away.

Going of walks always helps, remember that anxiety is the thought process. If you can stop the thoughts and focus your mind on something else, it will bring your anxiety down.

Just remember its anxiety, and nothing is wrong with your body.

Hi there,

I'm just replying to your post from the UK here. I'm hoping you managed to ease some of your tension and anxiety since your post. It seems that 'distraction' helped you a little late last night while you were writing. Is this something you could try further.

Anxiety has a habit of just pouncing on us!!!!! Mine has a habit of being there from the minute I wake up. So has been very debilitating in that I just didn't leave the house for weeks.

I too suffer from anxiety and my therapist has introduced me to 7/11 breathing. Count for 7 breathing in and 11 breathing out. Her advice is that I do this for at least ten minutes for it to have any effect and to try it each time I feel anxious. (This can be done anywhere!!!!!!) it maybe that this also helps the tension in your legs as it will increase blood flow etc round the body.

An earlier post mentions that anxiety is thought related, this is exactly right but it also triggers uncomfortable physical symptoms. I guess by concentrating on your breathing by counting your thoughts then move away from the anxiety.

Another piece of advice was that I use a 'mantra' of positive and calming thoughts which I repeat over and over. For example 'I am safe' and 'I am at peace'. Your mantra could be anything that suits you.... also is a distraction from negative thinking.

Finally for the noise (ringing) that I also suffer from, there are some fantastic free apps that you can download to your smartphone or tablet laptop. I'm using one called 'white noise' it especially helps me to get off to sleep. There are a number of different noises on there which you can concentrate on rather than listening to the ringing in your own ears. I find the 'heartbeat' quite soothing.

Having said that, along with the support of my therapist I am also prescribed 100mg of Sertraline. This seems to be helpful with the anxiety/depression. I have to be honest that this is probably the best medication I have had by far and yesterday was a good day. I completely understand that medication is not a decision that everyone wants to make but I think it has helped me no end.

These are just some tips that I find helpful, they may not be for you but thought I would share in this reply.

I hope you have a better day today.

😀
