I felt what I thought was a weird lump in my nose but I think it was just the cartilage. When checking I was tearing and scraping and all sorts at the septal cartilage in my nose with my fingernail and it did not even bleed, considering its covered in skin. Seems to me it should have bled. Any thoughts? Can this type of damage result in no bleeding?

Well, have no medical opinion on this situation. The face including the nose may bleed more freely than some parts of the body. Think an ENT would a have the professional answer to your concerns.
