Has anyone ever done therapy or still does it? My family want me to do it but I feel like it might be a waste of time so just wondering how did other people find it? Did it help?

It definitely helps. I have done it and will be starting up again soon. At least give it a try. See how you feel. 🙄

Hi Angiecis22, I have felt the same about counselling as you in the past but what I have found has helped me is finding a self help group for people with anxiety/depression. The one I have found is run by a counsellor, but hearing other people's experiences has made a huge difference to me in managing my own anxiety. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Yes, I would definitely recommmend giving it a go.

I went to see somebody many years ago, she was really awful and that experience put me off for 20 years!!!

However, Iast year I decided to give it another go and I'm so pleased I did!

One to one therapy is my preferred choice but I have also tried CBT and group therapy. All are helpful in their own way so be open to what's on offer and don't be afraid to tell them what you want/ need from the sessions.

Thanks to that dismal session all those years ago, I was very clear about what I didn't want.

I see a lovely therapist now who listens, she's supportive but she also challenge me and helps me to look at things differently - she's helped.

You've absolutely nothing to lose by trying it, it helps for many people, I've found very helpful in the past, give it a go, if it helps then great, if not then nothing lost by trying :-)
