Anxiety storming back, or something else.......

So, I had my first panic attack about 12 years ago. Since then, my anxiety has come and gone, even going completely dormant for short periods. It's seems that every time it's comes back it brings a new symptom to the table. Most recently I had been drinking a lot and the anxiety coupled with withdrawals led to an ER visit, where of course everything checked out fine. Subsequent labs revealed good health with the exception of a slight B vitamin deficiency (the drinking). Anyway, I knew it was out of hand and time for a change, so I started the Whole 30 diet, which of course is alcohol free. I had been having extreme pressure in the upper abdomin with discomfort in the throat, much like it was closing on me. The alcohol used to help, until the next day, but I digress. I'm on day 19 of the Whole 30, been working out like a mad man, and have lost 15 pounds, regaining some of my body building form. Most of the upper abdomen pressure has subsided, but I can't seem to shake this pesky closing of the throat feeling, which causes me to breath laboriously at times. The hypochondriac in me can't help but think I have throat cancer, or something else, but I am also very aware of my anxiety. It's just that this throat thing is relatively new compared to all the other things my anxious mind has subjected my body to in the past. Do we ever slay this beast, or are we destined to fight a continuous battle? I have always rejected mess for anxiety, but feel now might be the time to give them a try. I just want to wake up and feel perfectly normal for an entire day.

Thanks for reading.

Hi stevio75, first of all well done and respect for how far you've come in 19 days💪😀 did you get your throat checked out by the doctor? If not you ought too. Are you taking a vitamin b supplement to tip your levels back up?

I did, Angep. He said it looked like there was a little sinus drip occurring and then ordered a chest X-ray and airway/breath capacity test. He wants to rule out any lung problems first. If negative, he's going to move to an endoscopy.

Well it sounds like he's on the case and being very thorough! So he's taking you seriously. I had a pleural effusion, I had an operation and my left lung filled with fluid and collapsed. So not being able to breath is very frightening so I totally understand difficulty breathing. You can slay the beast you know. You just need to get to the point where you think stuff this!! I'm taking control now. I'm in charge of my own mind. It's hard work and constant at times but nothing worth having ever comes easy., I don't say it lightly and it's about your mind being in the right place. I know medication can help, it dosnt cure the problem it just helps you to manage it but you do what you think is right for you.
