Hi _SincerelyNina,

Without knowing exactly what your history is with anxiety, I can say say that panic attacks are usually triggered in times of great stress. Can you see a doctor and get some help with it? Even without medication, when you find some one kind and professional to talk to about your condition it really does help. I know from experience.

I started to get panic attacks all of a sudden after being laid off my job, I lost an hour of time and ended up in the mall downtown and nearly collapsed in the H and M clothing store. I called my husband and I was sweating and I thought I was going to faint. This continued to happen to me whenever I was outside amongst crowds of people for months after, and I felt really dizzy like I was going to pass out.

I asked the doctor about it and she said, while panic attacks feel dangerous, they are actually not. Your body is just kicking into overdrive, and it will stop on it's own accord. The only thing you have to be careful of (this is not medical advice, just me because I'm super cautious) is that in case you do faint, make sure you have a soft place to land or a friend/partner with you if you are in public. It helps to know you have that security blanket.

No it is not "normal" and no you should never have to get used to it, but in my experience the worst panic attacks go away and start to ease off after a while once you start feeling safer, and facing the real cause of your stress whether it be trauma in your past, a current situation, or simply a medical condition. You can ask your doctor for medication to help as well, if you trust their recommendation and you feel it is necessary.

For me I stopped having panic attacks a few months ago, except when I go to the mall I still get a bit lightheaded. But I just breathe through it, and chant in my head "I AM SAFE I AM SAFE" and make sure I have some food/drink with me so I don't faint, and I will sit down if I need to.

Hope any of this helps! Feel better soon :)

It will get better You might feel you are at rock bottom at the moment and don't want to go on but from now on the only way is up Don't let stupid, idiot, waste of space anxiety ruin your life Analyse each panic attack and you will see that it subsides and it hasn't done you any harm Its the fear of the panic that is feeding them and keeping them in your life Stop trying to control them just say to yourself bring it on do its worst so what it's not going to do me any harm 3 months isnt long although it feels a lifetime I'm sure Tomorrow is the first day of your recovery you can and will do it We are all here xx
