Living with ankylosing spondylitis has been emotionally challenging, and I know I can't face it alone. I'm seeking mental support through therapy, support groups, or loved ones to help manage the emotional impact. Embracing self-compassion and hope, I need others to walk this journey with me.

Hi,Everyone will walk with you.
My friend has been newly diagnosed with AS. Her physio works on strength and conditioning sessions for her lower back. Daily stretching exercises have been prescribed in addition to a tablet.
There is a support organisation online that is recommended

As my own doctor keeps reminding me, there is no health without mental health so please keep an eye out for yours. Some conditions have symptoms that mimic depression. I think AS is in this category, especially fatigue.
I am going to learn more about AS so that I can better understand what my friend and you are dealing with and how I can support both of you.
That’s such a kind and thoughtful message. It’s great that your friend has a supportive physio and daily exercises in place—it makes a big difference. The Spondylitis Association of America is a fantastic resource, too! You’re absolutely right: mental health plays a huge role in managing AS, and the fatigue can be so challenging. Your effort to learn more and support your friend is truly commendable. 💙
