I can relate to the longevity of your suffering. I lived like this for a long time but never realized it was not " normal"
I think the longer we struggle the longer it can take to heal... that's just my personal opinion.
I hope your meds get adjusted quickly and you can begin to feel better

Hello, I am about your age and I have suffered from anxiety and depression almost all of my adult life. My anxiety peaked after menopause and spiraled out of control with Covid. I spent three and a half years in thereapy (I'm a slow learner) and now I am off medications (they never worked well for me) and I have a "toolbox" for dealing with my anxiety. My toolbox includes exercise, meditation, listening to music, reading, watching my favorite series on TV, playing the piano, and spending time with family and friends. If you haven't tried talking to a therapist, please go.
I'm also about your ages...lol. I stopped taking Zoloft about 5 months ago and I'm currently going through some depression and anxiety. I was on meds for about 25 years stopping only the 2 times i was pregnant. At 48 years old I want to see if I need the medication. It wasn't working that well for me anymore and the dr just kept increasing it. I want to see if my brain can now take back over and use my own dopamine etc. Instead of manufactured chemicals. I've done a lot of reading and was shocked to learn that SSRIs are meant to be short term. It's crazy how doctors just prescribe without questions. I've tried therapy, but it wasn't very helpful. It's good to hear stories from others. I find it supportive and uplifting.
I have suffered from depression for about 30 years. I'm 61. I hope your doctor finds the right meds for you. Have you tried tapping meditations? They help me. I just do the free ones at this site: thetappingsolution.com/
Meditation, breathing, slowly walking in nature, and riding a stationary bike, help me. Also doing what’s important to you even if you don’t feel like it.
