I think I’m going to be switching from Remeron to paxil. Has anyone had good luck with Paxil? And tapering off Remeron?

paxil
PAXIL has been my hero. I have been taking Paxil for about 25 years. Yes, that's a long time. However, I have tried it all...every single medication on the shelf. I am clinically diagnosed OCD, SEASONAL and CHRONIC DEPRESSION, SEPARATION ANXIETY, PANIC DISORDER, and that's to name a few. Paxil has given me the ability to baby-,step my way thru it all. I'm Not saying it has cured me. It has given me the will to wake up in the morning and go to work without the dread of the emptiness of depression, the fear of loss, and the intruding thoughts that demand I follow thru with my OCD rituals. So, YES. YES, PAXIL has been the best medication I've had. Good luck with your journey. There is HOPE.
Thank you for this! I think I will be giving Paxil a try. I’m always scared but I have to do something.
Did it take 4 weeks to work? What is your dose? Any side effects for you?
Thank you!
Hi, I take 40 mg of Paxil daily. It took about 2 weeks for me to feel a difference and about a month to feel significantly better. The biggest difference was I didn't have the deep dread in the pit of my stomach when I woke up in the morning. Also, my anxiety of working thru the OCD rituals was not as crippling. Don't misunderstand, I still have depression and my OCD creeps up often, but I can go to work everyday and interact with people on a "normal" level. Believe me, before Paxil, I was a recluse who didn't want to open my eyes for anything ...I took over thr counter sleepy mrds just stay asleep as much as I could. I will mention one last thing, as for side effects, I didn't have any...until I tried to stop taking paxil on my on. You have to have a Dr's plan for slowly weening off of Paxil. It was devastating and I ended up in the ER. Needless to say, I stayed on Paxil God Bless
Hi Plantlover,This is my experience with Paxil. I'm only going to mention this because you asked. Everyone responds differently to medications, so take my experience with a grain of salt.
Paxil was the first ever antidepressant I was put on. It made me so incredibly tired that I couldn't continue with it.
