What's the difference between two people who are under similar circumstances (more or less) where one chooses life, and the other doesn't?

What lead to their choices being so different? Is one simply just "better" than the other? If so, in what way? What made each person make their particular choice? Or could it just be fate? Does one deserve life more than the other? And my last question, why does it have to be this way?

Two Buddhist monks were walking down a river path. One ponders out loud, 'I wonder what it is like to be the water...'. The other shoves him into the river.

Choices and decisions are made by the individual because their brain has a memory store of experiences over a lifetime.

No two people have the same experiences or mental health so there is going to be natural variation.

If we can put ourselves in the other person's shoes we can at best be empathetic towards them. By talking with the other, we can gain some understanding. It's really all we can do. 🐈‍⬛
