my son is not recovering from widraal symptoms of clonotill

over 8 months now he is in out psychiatry clinic a lot of pills and antidepresants and still feels bad . he was put on faverin 150mg and after 3 months he stoped and he is on bretellix 10 mg he coplains of brain zaps and looks excausted and dosent talk much and once again his gone to phychiatrist clinic . iam very sad as is been going on too long i am depresed and i am also trying to recover from hypothyroid and i feel ill also ..age 70 makes matters worse i need help also but is no body and what is worse i cant see my son suffering like this. and no treatment has help him so far . he was taking clonotil for 25 years and he also took a lot like 9 mg a day and on psychiatrist tried to cut them down to 3 mg a day and he became ill and hasent recover evn thou he is still takes 5 mg per day ..

Dear morcan54, I may not be familiar with the medications your son was and has

been on, however I can tell you that withdrawing from meds can and does take a long

time.

I was on the lowest dose of Xanax for 30 years when it no longer worked.

My psychiatrist (who specializes in benzo weaning) took me off it slowly

and safely. It took 2 years in withdrawing and another year for the brain

to heal.

During that time, there were brain zaps and up and downs with my emotions.

The idea my doctor had was to always go forward and never back down with

dosage.

That was years ago. I survived the immense emotional pain. It does take time

to heal. I hope my experience can give you some hope with your son's healing.

A mother's pain in watching her child suffer is heartfelt. Please take care of

yourself as well. I understand and I care :) xx
