Propranolol - Migraine

Just wondering how anyone coped taking Propranolol to reduce migraines?

I've been taken 40gm twice a day, now increased to three times a day, but am getting regular headaches & cannot get the sleep until 3 or 4am - Is this a normal side effect that will wear off once I'm used to taking the prescription? Currently on month 4. Thanks

I was prescribed propranolol for anxiety and migraines and it helped with anxiety symptoms but migraines not so much and I also struggled getting to sleep I’d be wide awake at like 3am I had to stop them though as the doctors thought they were adding to my dizziness do they make you feel spaced out at all? I was told to take them twice a day I did once and I felt out of it

Thanks for your reply. I have felt a lack of concentration & my eyes get really tired too, but thought that was down to extreme lack of sleep!

hi, I take 60mg Propanalol twice a day, they have been brilliant for my migraines. I didn’t have sleep problems but I’m on other meds at night also. Hope you get on ok.

That's great to hear...I will try to carry on with them to see if they eventually help!

I take 4g0 mgof Propranalol at night for migraines and have no problems sleeping. I also have Sumatriptan ordered for breakthrough mirgraines. That gets rid of them right away. ( don’t need it often)
