Propranolol - Is it effective?

Hi,

I have been taking Propranolol from last 1 month now. I was on 80 mg and didn't work much on me.

Initially for 3-4 days I took it in day time but then I couldn't focus on my work. Then I started taking it before bed time, I could not sleep for days. I have been asked to take one capsule every day. I have Migraine and Anxiety.

Now my doctor suggested to take 160 mg. I haven't started this course for now.

Is this medicine really effective? as its not effecting me at all. I still have migraine pain and Anxiety issues.

Any suggestions?

Propranolol helps slowing up your heart beats or normalize them when you are under stress such as a job interview or something else,i use propranalol when i get my episodes of intrusive thoughts ,because sometimes my heart feels like its gonna get out of my chest.

For me i could say that it helped me,but i dont see helping with migraine.For migraine i suggest you to take magnesium daily because people with low magnesium usually suffer from migraine.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know magnesium helps to reduce Migraine. Let me give a try

Hi there! I was on propranolol for migraine control for a few years. It worked for me pretty well. Now it didn’t completely get rid of them, but it lowered how many I was having per month. If you’ve taken it as directed and haven’t noticed a lessening, then I would ask your doctor about trying something else. I hope today treats you well! Happy Saturday! 🙂

yeah I am first course with 80 mg is over. Since it didn't make any difference, doctor recommended to take 160 mg. let me see if it goes well and I get some relaxation :) Thanks , Have a lovely evening.
