I had a problem with clenching and grinding my teeth and it was causing damage. My dentist recommended a bite guard or called a night guard. I wear it every single night. It protects my teeth. I don't know if it stops me from clenching and grinding though, but it does prevent damage. I didn't think I would be able to sleep with it in, but surprisingly I had no problem at all getting used to it. I could wear the guard during the day if I caught myself clenching or grinding too.

Can you buy the bite guard from a drugstore? Thank you

Drug stores do have bite guards, but dentist have heavy duty ones. They are expensive at the dentist. I would probably spend a little more money on a drugstore one rather than getting the cheapest one. I think they might be better. I just did a google search. There are a lot to choose from at lots of different prices. I would say get what you can afford.

Happy Holidays to you too. How are you doing today? Is this a good day for you or a difficult day?

I have been doing it for years. In times of extreme stress my jaw hurts a lot.

Mouth guards are important for saving the teeth. But I have to tell you I've continued to cause damage despite wearing it. I can't imagine what would happen if I didn't wear it

This is a good question, and I think that I do this the most whenever I have stress.

Also.. For what is worth, I do suffer from dry mouth a lot, so I need to be careful with that as well.

Yes. I have two words for you: mouth guard! I cracked six teeth with this, and two ended up with root canals and then removal. :-( The other four front teeth needs filling from the cracks that lost enamel. You can buy an inexpensive night guard at any grocery/drug store, or have you dentist make a custom one (some dental will cover, but not most). I never sleep without it, and also have some thinner ones I wear during the day when I catch myself. Don't wait until you have major dental problems!

Sorry to hear, but you can still prevent further damage. Talk to your dentist on your next visit! Good luck.
