Communication Troubles and Laziness

I am finally starting to feel better after three years in the abyss, but while my wife has been supportive during my struggles, she recently told me again that I am just need to stop being lazy and get a job at Walmart or drive for Uber if I can't so anything else - I used to be an attorney but have been unable to work for two and half years. I have had cognitive problems, especially post-COVID, and to be fair I haven't accomplished anything recently. But, I am struggling to communicate what has been going on with me and the abyss. I don't event know myself where the last two years have come. Does anyone have any suggestions for helping someone understand major depression and debilitating anxiety? Thank you!

There are YouTube videos on it. There's one I really like I think it's called how to cure depression I think it's something like Dr panko I can't remember his name . I bet if you Googled depression and what to tell family there be plenty . Lot of books out there . It really takes your motivation away. I'm glad you're doing better.

First, I want to say that I do not believe that people are lazy. If they do not do something that someone else asks them to d. it is either because they cannot do it or they are unmotivated to do it. They may be motivated to do other things and may put a great deal of energy into them. Think about what you would like to do and see whether it is feasible.

I do think that getting out and doing something would be a start in helping yourself to feel better. However, if you are suffering from long Covid, we are somewhat in unknown territory. Researchers don't really know what long Covid is or how long it lasts or what the symptoms are. The information on this disorder is changing Weekly.

There is a lot of information out there on rehabilitation and getting back to work as well as good books on depression and negative thinking. A little bibliotherapy might be useful in getting you started.
