Celexa and Pregabalin

I have been on Celexa for 15 years for anxiety, but recently it has not been working as well. My doctor wants to add on Pregabalin to take the anxiety edge off. Does anyone have experience of these two drugs together, or of Pregabalin and another SSRI? I have read the side effects and they are causing me anxiety!!

I haven’t taken them, but sometimes the pharmacist can be a very helpful person to talk with about medications. The pharmacist really helped me feel better about a new medication last week- helpful tips the doctor didn’t mention etc.

I take Pregabalin for my anxiety and it really helps.

Hi. Yes I have been on Flouxetine (SSRI) + Pregabalin for years for anxiety & depression. They worked well for my anxiety but my depression continued to deteriorate. Recently, my anxiety started to return & Fluoxetine was changed to Sertraline (another SSRI) & I'm still on Pregabalin. I originally was prescribed Pregabalin for back pain & sciatica. The dose was increased to help with anxiety & it did. I haven't experienced any side effects of the combination of Pregabalin + SSRI.

Hi, I was given pregabalin to help the duloxetine but I just slept all the time with it so gave it up in the end.

I took celexa for about 6 years and it was great; but then it started working a little bit less. After several dosage increases I finally switched to Effexor. It helps me have good days instead of all bad. I know everyone is different but this is my experience. 😌

My doctor is thinking about Effexor if the add-on of pregabalin doesn’t work. Did you find the transition from Celexa to Effexor difficult?

Not at all. A few months ago a friend of mine was also put on Effexor and she didn’t have side effects either. A small sample, but a positive one!
