Medication

I have a doctor appointment to discuss increasing my medication & possibly take a sleep aid. I’m currently taking 20 MG of Escitalopram but have not tried a sleep aid. I’m really nervous about my appointment tomorrow.

I've not heard of the medication your on but am presuming it's an anti depressant,? Are you worried about the appointment because your cautious about adding more medication ?

This is a very valid thought and you can ask your doctor as many questions as you need to to feel informed about your own treatment.

If your needing a sleep aid then I'm guessing you've had a bad time sleeping lately that in itself can increase your anxiety

Yes, I am worried about increasing the dose. Plus, potentially adding a sleep aid.

I have been on Escitalopram 20mg for awhile. When I first started taking it I found it gave me lots of relief but after a few years I found it wasn’t working as well. They added buspar to my medication routine with the Escitalopram. I found it to be helpful, they started me on a low dose and from my understanding there is lots of room to move up.

I was a little bit hesitant about adding another medication because my mom isn’t supportive of me taking western medicine. In the end I decided to not let anyone shame me about taking medication. You are in charge of your own health.

I would always get nervous about seeing my doctor and sometimes I still do. Your doctor wants to help you and from my experience they want to make sure you’re sleeping regularly. I find meeting with your doctor is one of the times you can be completely honest and open. They’re okay if you cry, they’re ultimate goal is to get you to were you want to be emotionally.
