I'm so sorry. Don't though dismiss their situation entirely. It's all unfortunate and sadly most people in our lives will disappoint us at one point or another. You don't even need to respond...which is the best tactic for self care (in my opinion). If you get into a debate about it all, it could turn sour quickly.
