Hi Chi1504 ,I personally take Olanzapine but, it does have one side effect of sleepiness that kinda drags on throughout the next day. A lot of people gain weight on it too.

It's really helped me though. You have to kinda see what's worse, gaining weight or getting better ya know?

That's how I see it anyway. Idk anything about the others, I'm sorry but, someone will. Good luck, I hope you get the best one 😊

A lot of the side effects are dose dependent. I did take olanzapine briefly on the lowest possible dose of 2.5 mgs. They tried 5 mgs and it was way too much and produced some bizarre symptoms (Pins & needles everywhere). After 2 months I weaned off. I think in general it is better to start with the ssris, but you do need to be guided by your doctor.

Citalopram for me. I had no side effects. There were periods that I took 20 mg a day or 40 mg a day. It takes a bit to show effect, 10-15 days for me. I cannot say that I gained weight because of it. If I gained weight periodically, it was because I was feeling better and I had appetite.

I only have experience with escitalopram. I've been using it for the past 3 years and my only side effect is that it makes me feel sleepy so is better to take it at night. The next morning I'm using feeling just fine with no problems.

Hi Chi,

Everyone is different, you will need to try each one for awhile and see which suits you best. Not the best answer, I know, but we all react differently to meds.Sorry I can't be of more help.

Cheers, Midori

I'm a male in my late 40's, but out of all the meds that I have taken, Escitalopram seems to agree with me the most.

It's perfectly fine to ask. :)

I have felt that way with other meds, but not this one.

.

But.. Keep in mind, everybody reacts differently to meds.

Whatever med that you go with, I hope that everything works out for you. :)
