combing anti depressants

I already take Mirtazaping 45mg but because I am extremely anxious on a daily basis doctor has given me sertrilene to take not got pills yet it worries me that it can cause serotonin syndrome as looking on internet it can do does anyone take two together any advice would be helpful

hi I`m on mirtazapine but a couple of year ago the doc wanted to try me on sertraline but he said I couldn`t take them right away as of the side effects mixing both where bad so reduced then stopped mirtazapine but that didn`t work out might be best asking again maybe another doctor about taking both at the same time.

I honestly don’t like the idea of taking it. They tried to lower my mirtazapine before the pandemic as ecg causing a longer QT line as these drugs can do it two week later had to have another ecg but heart rate was up too high couldn’t do it. Doctor put me back on the regular dose. On looking this up about combining these two can maybe cause serotonin syndrome. I think I better not take them

yeah ended up back on the higher dose myself but now on 15mg but they think it`s 30mg but I`m halving them in two.

your pharmacist is actually the best expert in contraindications which is what you are talking about. I don’t know those meds but I usually check webmd. Good idea to tell your doctor about your concerns. That open conversation develops trust in both directions which is key to good care.
