Very true, but you are not your thoughts.
Thoughts are not only of the past, but what your brain is processing every nanosecond of the day. If we questioned every thought we had, we couldn’t function because we, as humans, have a lot of thoughts. The job at hand is to determine what is true and what isn’t. What is harmful and what isn’t. How we determine that is complex, depending on a persons individual experiences throughout their lives. When a person can’t choose between a true thought and an untrue thought (because some people can’t), it disrupts a person’s ability to function. When they can’t function, it’s a problem. Guidance is needed, preferably by a professional to determine what is true and what isn’t.
