good** horses....See Gunsmoke program

Kind of silly discussion but fancy flashy spirited horses are the bain of us instructors........they are performance horses or like huge motorcyles........tons of power........not good starter horses

some get it ......others think ur baby ing them because they want the real horses and to start galloping around like the movies........ya.........cant wait to take the new uhuge motorcyle and start on the busy freeway.....ish

if u look at the Program Gunsmoke.......those are highly highyl schooled well trained horses........the drop the reins........the dont run off.......even with gunfire (blanks still make a heck of noise) and all the terrain and super quiet and stand at th hitchig post......(try that with most thoroughbreds......omg plese dont- said most not all)

few know that Hollywoood horses and riders are some of the best in the business........one of our group had a funny little quarter horse......trained in Hollywood......grand prix dressage......but no money in it so they make movies........same as the man from Snowy River.....real horses.......

but when i head out......all i want is my old mountain bomb proof old event horse.......go anwhere jump anyhting ...frolm a walk.........used to do it all the time ....walk up to a three foot log and up she goes..............or short trot...........tried endlessly to tell peple and show p;eople.........they think rushing a horse to fence helps them..........no....makes it harder..........do i run to the stairs as fast as i can.......or

get fit and power up the stairs...................on cross coutnry we come in at a gallop....to a steep; hill breeak to a trot or walk and ........over we go to control how far down the hill we go.......bad coaches bomb it and end in the ditch and bad compettiors and insp;ectors always want to argue abot the langding

like golfing or batting..........why cant i do a chip shot........and not use full power

this is what makes peole soooo frustrating.......the original courses on terrain were a test of the rider.....

cookie cutter experts and bad coach and authroites........no u have to ride it this way

ever hear of golf or tennis............alwayus have to hit as hard as u can.....say the inept coaches

usually a chip shot wins the game

want easy tests and competition get their ribbon adn go home

god help it if they went to a real test of horsemanship..........oh u cant to that ...the field gets so mad......

why i left......just tell me what u want and wht u wnat to hear........same ol same ol......thats america......

use uir brain.....oh nooo no no nononon........we dont make waves we dont make compettors tested......

the couses today........direct lnes and flow.........a test of the power of the horse.........not the rider......

oh...........well.........soorry to digress.....

ill take any of the horses on Gunsmoke anyday.......and hit the moutains.........greeeeeeeeeeat horses ......to die for.......

Very interesting on the Hollywood horses. Thank you for sharing the comparison. Because you have the expertise you can see that when you watch something and probably cringe when you see the wrong type of trained horse to the wrong situation.

Like throwing a medical person into a surgical suite. HA could probably get the hand washing right but from that point on it may be a disaster
