Welbutrin : I have highblood pressure... - Anxiety and Depre...
Welbutrin
Is your psychologist aware you have high blood pressure? If so, I doubt he or she would prescribe it.
Hi Oscar, I take Buptoprion Xl which is Welbutrin. I have blood pressure problems. Can you call her or a doctor on call to make sure its safe?
Hi OB73,
As far as I know Bupropion can increase blood pressure, but it is not a side effect everyone gets.
Venlafaxine can do the same.
Many people take bupropion without any effect on their blood pressure.
It would be worth double checking with your doctor. They may ask you to monitor your blood pressure while you are taking it to check that it is not having an effect on it.
All the best xx
Only a psychiatrist or other medical doctor can write prescriptions. Make sure they are working with your complete medical history before writing you a prescription.
Thankyou my psychiatrist done a genetic test on me she said according to that was my best treatment i kinda dont trust it because i had a bad experience with 100mg of zoloft lastyear almost sent me to the hospital i thought i was dying so im nervous of the potential side effects the Welbutrin is 150mg
Yes, I too have had bad experiences with antidepressants, including just total loss of muscle control, confusion, vomiting, etc. However, it does take time to find one that works and titrate it to the proper dosage. I don't know your specific situation but it may be worth a few side effects along the way to find an antidepressant that works for you. It's important that you tell your doctor about your fears and have them explain the potential side effects. The Mayo clinic recommends 150mg to start with, so there is some support for the150mg dosage.
Once you start, you can keep a log of how it makes you feel throughout the day (i.e. groggy, confused, happier, more energy, etc.). It is your call but for you to get back to a reasonable outlook on the world that allows you to navigate and enjoy some things, some experimentation with your psychiatrist may be needed....and some side effects. Just keep on top of the side effects and let your doctor know right away. Always speak to your doctor before just stopping taking the medication because that can make things worse. Usually, you need to titrate back down before stopping.
I know it is hard but it may be worth that fight and the effort.
Good luck! 🙂
