My anxiety is silent. You wouldn’t even notice a change on the outside but I’m honestly so stressed I can’t even manage simple tasks. People call me lazy when, in reality, I’m just overwhelmed…… anonymous quote

Everyone of us witness worry or anxiousness in lives. It can be normal anxiety or clinical anxiety. The positive part of normal anxiety can sometimes help us to perform better. Say, we have important presentation in office and normal worry makes us work more thoroughly on presentation. Or, suppose we have job interview for our desired job then normal worry help us to prepare more for the interview n so many such other examples. In given examples, there is reason behind being worried or anxious and most importantly it works as positive boost for us and as soon as we come out of that situation,we are no more anxious or worried. But if we talk about clinical anxiety, it has been broadly described in following ways:

•Specific phobia

•Social anxiety disorder

•Panic disorder

•Agoraphobia

•Generalised anxiety disorder (also known as GAD)

•Separation anxiety disorder

•Selective mutism

•Substance-induced anxiety

•Anxiety disorder due to other medical condition(s)

•Other specified anxiety disorder

•Unspecified anxiety disorder

We can see it as anxiety is an umbrella and all the types of above disorders come under that umbrella.

As I personally dealing with GAD ( generalized anxiety disorder) , so I think I can better talk about it. People having or dealing with GAD, they persistently worry/ anxious about everyday things. They have different types of fear, but mostly, I think it will be better to say, 90% (my personal case) times there is no reason behind it. They somewhere know it also but still, they cant just can’t stop themselves from worrying, from getting anxious. Anxiety of any type comes up with physical symptoms, like heart palpitations or heart racing up, feels like heart comes out, hot flushes, sweating, dizziness, disorientation, imbalance, brainfog, poor concentration, irritation, restlessness, difficult to analyse things etc etc etc. When such anxiety happens, one needs to reach his/her safe place. It can be anything, for some it might be feeling to be with some family person, room, home anything. For me its my room, darkened and specifically my favourite couch in my room......pratyaya singh
