Another strike

Hi.Found out through my new therapist that Kaiser, in Northern Ca, (I get my mental health care through my health provider) might be going on strike later this month... the lack of mental health services has been an issue for sometime with Kaiser & like most places the demand has gone up since the pandemic. Though I see/agree with some of their reasons for the strike... I currently see my therapist every 3 weeks ( my old therapist was some how able to see me every 2)... and once a month is the norm. New patients have a ling wait time to even be seen or assigned a therapist or mental health doctor. I git lucky, when my therapistr retired, I got a new one semiquickly, since she was able to book me an appointment with new therapist. My new therapist & I are trying to start a treatment plan (have had 2 sessions with her)... did a PTSD score test this week... still feeling heavy from it... And now this might be on hold.... accordingto the news the strike might starton the 15th, my next appointment is for the 23rd. Trying to be understanding, hopeful & set with all this... not fun . To anyone else in this same boat,I understand.🕊💗

Apparently you did get lucky! For a company that sells "preventative" they don't do such a good job with ME. I was forced into using them years ago. I hope they can work it out. I don't suppose they will put you on a cancellation list?

Hi Blueruth. Ya, I've heard stories about how they basically fail when it comes to mental health services... had experiences with not so great people there too. So far I like my new therapist, she has experience with PTSD patients, so I feel hopeful. I honestly don't know if I can go through outside care... finding right person, cost, explaining everything (yet again)... plus I hear it's hard getting an appointment even with private practice. Hoping this works out.

If you can afford it someone independent is best. Some do work on a sliding scale. Honestly I haven’t used insurance for ME for years. Given my journey… great care, great ideas, more dedicated and focused therapists, resources… maybe it is cheaper in the long run. Sondermind is a service for matching therapists mostly online. It was 85 without insurance.
