Hi, I'm new around here. I am here because I am looking for support, I have a phobia, specifically fear of flying, and in two weeks I am going to make a transatlantic flight, approximately 10 hours flying.

Hi Luna!! Yes I have flew before, in January this year I took vacations and made a domestic flight in my country, no more than 2 hours. I am going to the United Kingdom, what make me stressed is the 11 hour flight, I am worried about not knowing how to handle my stress for so long
Well, I have never feared flying, so you might not think I have anything to say, but saying my words to yourself might just help. "I'm going to sit in this long tube for eleven hours and wait; we will get some boring instructions on this and that but while I wait I will read/watch a film/listen to music on my headphones. I can get up and do a little exercise and sit down again as many times as I like. Then magically, we will start a descent and I will hear the engines change tone. Then we will be THERE! Yay!" I flew many times then couldn’t after 911. I went years w/o flying We took a family cruise out of a local port and ended up having to fly home due to an emergency. I handled it ok all things considered. Then our 30th anniversary was looming and I always wanted to go to Rome. So first, like you, I planned a shorter flight with a large group (that helped). I also use lorazepam which helps.
I also section off the flight. Part 1 take off through snack, 2) then I say my rosary, 3) next is movie, tv or book, then 4) maybe another snack (depending on length of flight), 5) preparation for landing. Find what intervals work for you
I am frequent flyer as part of my job and I have OCD so you could imagine how uncomfortable in a confined space. Well I’ve managed many domestic flights but overseas business trip to somewhere like Japan for 13 hours, I have to take a small dose of 0.25 Xanax. Enjoy your trip and BOL✌️
