It's good you are going to the ER. You have been going through too much. Try to insist that they do some tests so that you can leave with an answer or at least feeling calmer.

I can't recommend medications to you but if it were me I'd get a couple of month's course of diazepam or xanax to give myself a break from the nightmare and stabilise myself so I can think of the way forward with a calm mind. The serenity and calm I would immediately experience would also prove beyond a shadow that all the medics and their tests are right - it IS anxiety.

Worried about side effects? There aren't any. Worried about addiction? People always get 'addicted' to meds that really work. I'd have to take them a long, long time for that to become an issue.

Maybe discuss it with your doc, just to give yourself a few months break from what you're going through.

You definitely need a break and I hope you can get that from medical attention. You are doing the right thing. Peace be with you Adamj

Bro, is your fight or flight stuck on in your brain? If the docs clear you, you should start a daily cardio exercise program. This will do many things. Give you confidence in your body. Burns off anxiety and depression. Produces endorphins and seratonin and such. Gives you confidence your healthy. After a month, gradually go at it a bit harder. If you are jogging, jog 1/2 miles more. If you are on the treadmill, go 1 m p hr faster. Slow steady progress. I think there is a part in the brain called the amygdala? I think it runs the fight or flight. From reading your posts it seems like yours is in high gear. If the drs clear you for excercise. A daily exercise program and proper sleep, can get you better. I think you should take the Xanax like the dr wants. Excercise and Xanax might make a new man out of you.

It’s like your stuck in hypochondriac mode. And that will make anyone in trouble. If the drs say you are healthy and suggest excercise and Xanax. Listen to them and wait for the good results to happen. If you are scared of the Xanax, ask for a lower dose. .25 mg every 6 hours. I used to take .05 mg every 6 hours. And after I got on the excercise program, I took it every 8 hours. And eventually went to the weaker, longer lasting klonopin and no Xanax after a few years.
