Insomnia at its finest. I get anxious when it’s time to sleep, I try to force myself to sleep but, all the bad thoughts come rushing in.

Well I do have a depression medication I have to take at night it does help me sleep but the problem is I have to eat with it and I normally don’t have a appetite at that hour so it does make it hard to take it.

I cannot force my sleep. I’ve tried many ideas. I gave up! Now, I sleep when sleep finds me. OK right now. I got the luxury to do that. Retired & little obligation. Not the best, but, good enough.

I can relate, I struggled with this all my life. The most useful thing is a medication I receive from my psychiatrist in combination with melatonin... though before that I would daydream, and force myself to think of positive fantasies. Anymore I give myself an hour to fall asleep (never takes that long but I like that I don't feel rushed or pressured to fall asleep) and listen to an audiobook until I pass out. Occasionally I'll look up white noise videos on YouTube too, like crickets and a campfire or the sound of rain.
