Horrible off sertraline
Here is what I would do. Either break the pill in half or restart the med for a few days and then break it in half. I have actually taken 3/4 because I couldn't handle 1/2. Forget doctor advice on withdrawal. You have to live your life and you know what you can handle better than they do.
Additionally add cleansing foods... think what you would eat for UTI. Cranberry, beets, carrots, chicken breast instead of red meat are some example.
Thanks i carrying on taking it last night praying i didnt feel as bad as i did yesterday lucky enough i dont have the same issue today just feel like a zoombie tired no.end but yh think i need to look in to my diet a bit more and hopefully the tiredness and side effects will calm down but i've had most of the side effects so far makes me wanna give up once feeling so rotten if i continue to get sick every few days i will cut it down thanks again take care now!
The logic is serotonin is stored in your gut as well as your brain. There is more stored in your gut actually. So when I was coming off an SSRI i was also doing a cleanse that uses a diet with a lot of those ingredients. I didn't intend to do them together but when I was done with the cleanse I dropped the SSRI almost immediately with no problem. Prior to the cleanse I was struggling intensely with my mood and headaches. I would decrease at a very slow rate and bump it back if it was too much. I do have to work! So there is no firm research on it whether a cleanse helped but it seems pretty coincidental. A cleanse is stressful so I am not suggesting that either but it won't hurt to move to something more Ayurvedic .
These can also be symptoms of covid.
Sertraline is no good for me,i stopped taking it.
Why was u getting bad side effect and how long was u on it and what r u taking now sorry for all the questions but ive read most people come off it and mainly because they feel tired thats me atm tired as hell
well, for a start it did'nt lift my mood, and the weight gain really got to me,and i had been on it for over 2 years. The doctor wants me to go back on it but i wont, but now i'm just taking Melatonin to help with my sleep.
Oh right sorry to hear that wow after 2 yrs it still didnt do much ive managed to stay on them because i think the dr will only say ride it out coming up to 12 days so if i dont see any improvement within a few months i'l be swaping feeling a little brain dead of them like there killing neurons off sleeping been a major issues cant get to sleep at night and really tired during day then but trying to sleep during day takes hours to settle 🙄😷
You should not stop taking medication like this all at once. Need to talk to doctor. Thus kind of medication is balance brain chemicals. It can cause serious things like stokes, or seizures thaf can. Be long lasting. Please don’t mess with going off med without care. Reducing the dosage slowly. What ever it takes. You may have some other issues as well.
If the med has mad you feel this way from the first few dosage tell doctor at once don’t keep taking it. I was unclear on whether you were starting it or coming off it.
No i'd been on it for like 10 days then horrible sickness and headache slept 16 hours thought if it happens again id of been coming off it but yesterday i was okay apart from feeling washed out im going to give it a few more days ive changed my diet hoping to improve at some point but yh i kno to just come off them slowly now!
You should never abruptly quit a med but taper off of it slowly. Cut the med in smaller pieces if you can, they actually make a pill cutter you can use to do it. If you can't do that, take it every-other day for a week or two and then switch to skipping two days for a week or two and so on.
Also try to be kind and compassionate to yourself during this process, your anxiety about it will be amplified because you are being so hyper-vigilant about it. it takes time for things to even out. It's also likely your food issue is from something else and not the med.
Thanks yh i'l sure to do this scsred of coming off it now because its the longest one ive actually stuck out so im trying to stick with it just hope i dont go months down the line to feel like its not working and have to quit because its took me all this time to give another one a try
We all react differently to meds, I was on sertraline for a number of years and it didn't do anything for me. I tried some other meds with the same result. I ended up doing a psychopharmacological test from Genesight which used my dna to determine which meds are best suited for me genetically. The test was paid for by my insurance. I started on one of the meds it recommended (Pristiq) and it has worked well. the test helped take a lot of trial and error out of the whole process. It also showed the meds that I had tried before were not right for me. I live in the states where the test is available, I don't know if it's available elsewhere but there might be similar tests available.
I'm in uk and i've not heard of this dna thing plus i'd have to go private even if they tested it over here tbh i wouldnt kno where to start
