Hi. I’ve been on mirtazapine for 7 1/2 weeks. 7.5 mg. The stuff is making me basically crazy. I need to be off of it. I’m having so many issues and side effects that I don’t think tapering is a possibility. Is it safe to just stop.
For reference, three psychiatrist and my regular doctor said to just stop. I am not taking any other medication.
can you half them for a couple of weeks then stop 7/12 weeks they`re probably just starting to work on you if the doc says it is then give it a go.
Md and psychiatrists day just stop due to horrible symptoms I am having. Everywhere I read says it taper but my symptoms are already so horrific. I don’t wanna prolong the misery. But scared not to.
Ask the pharmacist, and look at Dr. Google.
Frankly, l would trust your doctor and psychiatrist advice and just stop.
Some years ago l was on a medication that was giving me horrific side effects and should have stopped much sooner.
I was also on Mirtazipine for a while and it did not suit me at all.
You can taper by skipping a day and taking it every other day for a week to see how you feel and if ok then skip two days for a week and then 3 days for a week, etc... It's easier than cutting up pills.
I used to take those and they made me seriously unwell. Firstly, you can't just stop taking them. That can make you feel worse. You need to consult with your doctor and they will tell you the healthiest way to do it.
