I'm currently in Lamictal for a mood syabilizer to control my rage. Been in it for about 20 years or so. Dont know if it is helping anymore. Im now back on abilify but I don't think it's helping. My moods are out of control and I can't feel emotions on a steady level. If I'm happy, I'm way too up and crash when the excitement ends, when I'm sad I feel so strong and cry for no reason. And when I'm disturbed or a tad aggrevated, I rage and my heart starts beating so fast and I have a hard time controlling yelling nasty things. I do work on it in therapy and other ways. . My doctor said she wants to try wellbutrin in addition but I've never had it and scared because I get such bad side effects from many psych meds. Does anyone know what wellbutrin is used for and if there's any bad side effects. I know everyone reacts different but I wanted to ask. I've been on meds since 14. I'm 43 now. I feel like a hopeless case.

Anyone have experience with Wellbutrin
Did you stop the lamictal? I have been on it a long time too. I cannot stop it. I have tried taking a little piece off the pill. In a few days I am a mess and eating tons of sugar. Lamictal affects the same chemicals. If I stop too drastically which happened unintentionally one year I really lose control of my emotions just like you are. Welbutrin is for depression. It made me manic but it works for a lot of people.
No I'm still on Lamictal and no plans to come off. I know it reduces my mood swings and has kept me from seizures for over 10 years. If I don't take the Lamictal at the same time every day, I get zings in my head if that makes sense. I might not try the wellbutrin. I have too many side severe effects from psych meds that are new to me. But I'll research it.
Zings… yep 👍🏼 know exactly what you mean. at one point someone kept upping the dose beyond recommend for bipolar. If you haven’t read the fda paperwork in a while you should. If for some reason you don’t take it for whatever reason the potential side effect is aseptic meningitis…swelling of the brain. I think that happened to me and my memory has not been the same.
